BHIMAVARAM: Athlete Satti Geetha on Monday formally inaugurated JNTU Kakinada central zone sports meet for Women here on the premises of Vishnu Engineering College for Women here. K.V. Vishnu Raju, Chairman, Sri Vishnu Educational Society presided. G. Syam Kumar, JNTUK Sports Council secretary, explained details of the two-day tournament.
Mrs. Satti Geetha paid flora tributes to Dr. B.V. Raju and his wife Seethamma. Later, a march past was conducted by women players from eight districts under JNTU Kakinada region.
Mr. Syam Kumar said Vice-Chancellor Allam Appa Rao was encouraging tournaments among engineering students. He thanked Mr. Vishnu Rajufor making elaborate arrangements for the sports meet.
Mr. Vishnu Raju said that young talented sportsmen in rural areas should be encouraged.
Nearly 450 engineering students from Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, West Godavari, East Godavari, Krishna, Guntur and Prakasam participated in the meet.
Campus Director, D.R. Raju, Principal G. Srinivasa Rao, Vice-Principal, P. Srinivasa Raju and others were present.
