ROBOVEDA -the phenomenon that has attracted everyone’s attention owing to its increasing popularity after being conducted thrice in the last three years is back once again. Each year it has been growing and pulling robotics enthusiasts from all over the nation. This three day symposium known to be one of its own kind stages a very unique platform, testing the knowledge in robotics. We, at SNIST hope to grow to an extent of gifting the world with a fifth Veda on Robotics. The competition is of the utmost eminence and tests the engineering insight of each and every participant in various concepts of robotics whilst also providing an enriching learning environment for them. We achieve this by providing a platform for convergence of some of the brightest minds from all over the country.

Events: There are a total of 9 robotic events in Roboveda.

Kurukshetra:
One of the most and highly popular events, Kurukshetra requires high accuracy, combined with precise techniques. The robot to be designed is based on a military tanker and targets of various types are required to be hit using this. Factors such as Moving targets, miniscule targets and harsh terrains increase the level of difficulty of this task.

Gati:
Speed is a vital element in the modern automotive industry. But it is not enough in itself and is required to be in tandem with control and stability of the vehicle. Gati is an event which tests these very qualities of the robot. The robots are usually required to complete a given arena with barriers of different types and sizes in the least possible time.

Yoddha:
Basically an event for testing the toughness of the robot made, Yoddha is something that requires both brain and strength. Essentially a robotic version of Sumo Wrestling, this event has two robots taking on each other in a one-on-one match with each trying to push the other out of the arena.

Vistaar:
In today’s industry, Automation is the key to a successful and efficient work flow. Judicial use of available space without compromising in the mechanisms required is the ultimate challenge that is faced by most of the engineers today. The event requires the participants to design and build a robotic arm that can pick an object within a finite range and place it where required.

Padmavyuh:
A favorite of electronic enthusiasts, this event requires a robot guided by an integrated circuit to crack a given maze and the one that is the fastest to do so emerges the winner. Regarded as the first stage in the revolutionary “Artificial Intelligence” field, it is an event held in high esteem by many.

Lakshman Rekha:
Another of the purely electronic events, the robot is required to follow a given line from start to finish in order to complete the task. It is challenged along its course by breaking of the lines, change of color of lines, harsh terrains, junctions and many more which will try to deviate or confuse the robot. This event witnesses the advent of basic micro-controllers which form the basis of modern computing.

Sarvagaami:
All Terrain maneuverable capability is an essential feature of many high-end automobiles today and it is precisely this purpose that the robot has to serve in this event. A number of challenging obstacles and paths are encountered by the robot in its course which need to be completed to finish the task. Simple yet efficient, light yet robust, these are the qualities that usually win the game.

Goalaa:
Capitalising on the most popular game of the world, Goalaa is an event that has entertainment as its USP. Here Robots are required to strike a given ball into a net in either timed or in one on one challenges.This is one of the most entertaining events of Roboveda.

Pushpak:
A new event in Roboveda, Pushpak is for the aero enthusiasts. Asking the participants to build a simple flying model, this event tests the aircraft’s stability and control, two of the most important factors whilst airborne. Precision in movements is also a major factor for evaluation of the robots efficiency.

Parishkaar (Innovative Projects Presentation):
For the highly innovative minds, this event offers them a chance to design any kind of robot that they think will be useful to modern society in one way or the other. From theory to blueprint to model to working model , the students are asked to build something that can improve man’s lifestyle and make this world a more convenient place. The best model is chosen on the basis of its innovation efficiency and its use to the society.
