All educational institutions in the T- region are opened from yesterday after a gap of nearly one month. Most schools, junior colleges and professional colleges have been closed since September 13 on account of the Sakala Janula Samme. The managements of private schools have decided to open after the state government threatened to derecognise them if they did not. Corporate junior colleges have already sent SMSes to parents informed them that classes are resumed from Tuesday.
Professional colleges have also decided to reopen engineering, B. Pharmacy, MBA, MCA, and B.Ed courses from Tuesday. About 40,000 government schools in the T-region will function normally from Tuesday since the Telangana Teachers’ JAC has decided to return to work. They held talks with the minister for secondary education K. Parthasarathi on Monday. They also met CM N. Kiran Kumar Reddy later and conveyed their decision to resume work from Tuesday. “We have decided to call off the strike in the interest of students. All the schools in the T-region will work normally from Tuesday,” said Mr S. Sreenivas Reddy, chief adviser, Telangana Private Schools’ Association.
The managements of government-run professional colleges said they will resume classes from Tuesday. “We have decided to call off the strike. However, we are ready to support the decisions taken by the Telangana JAC in future for the cause of Telangana state,” said Dr K. Suneel Kumar, chairman, T-region, Consortium of Engineering and Professional Colleges Managements Association. Some private schools have been unable to conduct quarterly exams and have scheduled the exams from this week. None of the government schools have conducted quarterly exams.
