  • Over 1 lakh students to appear for IIT-JEE today.

HYDERABAD: Over one lakh students from the state will appear for IIT-Joint Entrance Examination (IIT-JEE) on Sunday. The exam will be held from 9 am to 12 pm and 2 pm to 5 pm.

JEE experts said there may be a change in the pattern of question paper this year. From the number of questions to the type of questions in Chemistry and Physics, sections could differ from that of last year, experts said.

“From 2008 to 2010, the IIT paper setters had changed the number of questions in the first paper. Students can expect the same this year too,” said K V Raghunath, IIT-JEE expert from Narayana Group of Colleges. According to Ranghunath, the type of questions in Chemistry And physics might also change as the IIT-Kanpur faculty will be setting the paper this year.

“IIT-Kanpur is known for their proficiency in Chemistry. Hence, this subject paper might turn out to be tougher than the last year,” said Raghunath.

According to IIT teachers in the state, many academics across the country would expect students from Andhra Pradesh to do well this year as the state had bagged six of the top 10 IIT ranks last year. “Students from AP are usually good at Maths. Even if the Maths paper is tough this year, we will score really well,” said an expert.
