  • AP State eligibility test after 10 yrs

Hyderabad, Oct. 8: The state government has decided to conduct the state-level eligibility test (SLET) after a gap of nearly 10 years. The decision follows the latest norms of the University Grants Commission that made the national eligibility test or SLET, a mandatory qualification for appointment as a lecturer.

The state government has decided to entrust the responsibility of conducting the SLET to the Osmania University and has asked the vice-chancellor of OU, Prof. Tirupathi Rao, to submit a report on the modalities of the exam immediately.

“Though we had first thought of handing over the responsibility to the AP Public Service Commission, it could not be done as the APPSC is pre-occupied with several recruitment exams that have to be conducted in the next two-three years. Therefore, we have asked the OU to conduct the exam. A decision on the schedule of the exam will be announced after we receive the report from the VC,” said the minister for higher education, Mr D. Sridhar Babu.
