    3.5 lakh keep of Group-4 exam !

The Group-IV recruitment exam conducted by the AP Public Service Commission on Sunday was held without any interruption.

However, 3.5 lakh candidates out of total 10.44 lakh candidates remained absent.

Students were allowed to download the hall tickets from the APPSC website until 8 am on Sunday but despite this convenience, only 6.94 lakh candidates downloaded the hall tickets.

Several candidates missed the exam as they arrived late, and around 50 students in Suryapet were not allowed to appear as they failed to provide a copy of the exam fee payment challan.

There were also reports of mass copying at a centre located in Bandi Atmakur in Kurnool district and officials of the APPSC are to conduct an inquiry into the incident.

The government had made elaborate security arrangements at the exam centres after violent incidents were witnessed during the Group-I exam that was held in August.

The reason attributed to no trouble from T-activists is the fact that the posts under the Group-IV recruitment exam are district-level posts whereas the posts under the Group-I exam were statelevel posts.

  • Colleges outside AP cash in!

    Colleges outside AP cash in!

Oct. 3: The large-scale migration of students from Andhra Pradesh has prompted several educational institutes from neighbouring states to depute representatives in all major cities across AP to conduct admissions and offer attractive packages. College representatives from Bengaluru, Chennai and Mumbai are camping in major hotels in all the cities to conduct admissions.

Parents and students are apprehensive that colleges will remain closed for months after December, when the Srikrishna Committee submits its report, in case violence breaks out due to the bifurcation issue as
happened in 2009. Students could stand to lose a year or see delays in examinations or in announcing results.

Nearly 1,000 professional colleges are located in and around Hyderabad alone and they draw students from all the three regions of the state. But with the outbreak of the Telangana agitation, parents from the Andhra and Rayalaseema regions are
reluctant to send their children to these colleges which could be affected if trouble flares up again in December.

The management quota seats for which these students paid `10-15 lakh are today going begging as parents have opted for management quota seats for their children in colleges located in Bengaluru, Chennai and Mumbai.
