The ranks for the 2010 Engineering, Agriculture and Medicine Common Entrance Test (EAMCET) will be declared by July 16.

According to JNTU Vice-Chancellor D N Reddy, the results of the Intermediate supplementary examinations are expected around July 10. Marks in the Intermediate Public examination are given a weightage of 25% in the calculation of ranks in EAMCET.

The EAMCET-2010 results were declared on June 16. The admission process will begin after the ranks are announced.

About 88.7% of the aspirants from the Engineering stream were declared as qualified, while 93.7% aspirants qualified from the Medical stream. From the 3,16,083 aspirants who had taken the test for the Engineering stream, 2,80,396 were declared as qualified, while 47,936 students qualified from the 51,186 who took the test.

Prof. D N Reddy also said that an additional 15,000 engineering seats would be available from this year onward, as the government has given the green signal for the setting up of 25 more engineering colleges.

The JNTU VC firmly rejected pleas for a second shift in the engineering colleges.

Prof. D N Reddy added that a grading system for all engineering colleges in the state would be announced after the admission process is complete.

He also warned college managements of giving admission to more students than the prescribed number, and said that strict action would be taken against such colleges.
