INSTRUCTIONS TO CANDIDATES :
1. There is only one design problem to be attempted.
2. Answers should be suitably supported by illustrated examples.
3. All the drawings should be drawn to scale.
4. The topic of the design shall be displayed as per the norms.

1) With the increase in commercial activities in and around your native town and with the
rapid growth in IT and ITES sectors, there is a growth in the number of visitors coming
here on daily/weekly basis. This has resulted in a high demand of hotels and Guest
houses in the recent time.
The Developers and property consultants are running after Architects to get designs of
Hotels made. As a budding architect, you are also approached by one of them to propose
an innovative design of a hotel with following requirements:
a) Suites (10 nos.).
b) Double bed rooms (30 nos.).
c) 6-bedded Dormitories (4 nos.).
d) Conference room with capacity of 25 people.
e) Dining hall with allied facilities for 100 people.
f) Mini-Banquet hall for 50-60 people.
g) Reception area and lounge.
h) Coffee shop.
i) Florist cum Souvenir shop.

You have an area of 350m ? 600m, with the shorter side abutting the main highway.
Orientation can be assumed by you.
Building bye laws include :
a) 40% ground coverage
b) 18m maximum height
c) FAR 1.5
d) One level of basement
e) 6m setback on all sides
f) Barrier free access.
Drawing requirements :
a) Site Plan in 1:500
b) Plan(s) 1: 200
c) Minimum two elevations
d) Two sections
e) A View.
