1. Explain the importance of conducting socioeconomic surveys in the identifying housing
problems in an existing town. Also, list the methods of conducting these surveys.
2. Discuss the strategies for overcoming the huge shortfall of urban and rural housing in
India. Is PMAY a successful strategy?
3. How can standards and codes help in the field of housing, List a few national housing
standards and codes for EWS, LIG, MIG and HIG categories?
4. Explain the role of Central and State governments in framing housing policies. Briefly
highlight any 3 features of National Housing and Habitat policy.
5. Explain the reasons for persistence of slums in urban areas. How can the problem of
slums be solved?
