2. What is meant by building maintenance? Why is it necessary? What is the importance of
this subject for architects? (12.5)
3. Give the economic and social significance of maintenance. (12.5)
4. Highlight the factors responsible for deterioration and decay of buildings. Also suggest
preventive measures for deterioration of buildings. (12.5)
5. Write a note on the role of climate on the life cycle of buildings. (12.5)
