haemorrhage.

2. A 28 year old primigravida with an uncomplicated pregnancy goes into spontaneous
labour at 39 weeks of gestation. During the second stage of labour, following delivery of
the head of the foetus, the midwife encounters difficulty with delivering rest of the baby
and suspects shoulder dystocia.
2.1. How would you confirm this emergency condition in this patient? (25 Marks)
2.2. Describe the measures that you would take to deliver the baby safely,
if you confirm shoulder dystocia (50 Marks)
2.3. List the complications that could be expected in this mother and the
foetus as a result of shoulder dystocia (25 Marks)
3. A 38 year old woman was admitted with acute abdominal pain with a POA of 6 weeks.
She was suspected to have an ectopic pregnancy.
3.1. List the investigations necessary to confirm the diagnosis (25 Marks)
3.2. If the diagnosis is confirmed as ruptured ectopic pregnancy, outline
her management (50 Marks)
