Write short notes on:
1. A 25?year?old man presents with pain and swelling of the right 2+8
lower limb for a day. List the differential diagnosis for his condition.
Describe your approach to the evaluation, investigations,
diagnosis and management of this patient.
2. A 20-year?old man is brought with acute onset of vertigo. Write 6+4
briefly on the differential diagnosis and assessment including
history and physical examination. How will you manage benign
paroxysmal positional vertigo?
3. Describe the clinical features of diabetic retinopathy. What is the 4+3+3
role of the family physician for prevention and management? What
is the significance of diagnosing retinopathy in a diabetic patient?
4. A 45?year?old labourer presents with pain of the left shoulder for 2+8
the past few days. List the differential diagnosis. Write briefly on
the clinical features, investigations and management of
periarthritis of shoulder.
5. Describe the indications and use of ketamine anaesthesia. What 5+5
are the common complications and how can they be prevented or
managed?
6. A 40-year-old woman presents with a long standing goiter of 10 7+3
years duration. She has recently noticed an increase in size and
some difficulty in swallowing. How will you evaluate and
investigate this patient? How will you plan the treatment for this
patient?
7. Prevention, screening, clinical features and diagnosis of 2+2+3+3
carcinoma of the colon. ?

8. A 65-year-old man presents with urinary retention to the
emergency room. What are the differential diagnoses? How will
you proceed with the evaluation and management of this patient?
9. A 70-year-old lady presents with low backache for the past 3 days.
List the red flags you would seek in the history. Write briefly on the
physical examination and investigations with reason for each, to
assess her.
10. A 35?year?old man gives a history of penetrating trauma to the
right leg with a piece of wood about 6 months back. This was
followed a few weeks later by a small wound which has failed to
heal and continues to have recurrent discharge. The overlying skin
shows scarring and fixity to the underlying bone. What is your
presumptive diagnosis? What investigations will you do to confirm
your diagnosis? How will you treat this patient?
