Q.2 Solve Any TWO of the following.

  1. Explain the Stress Strain Curve for brittle material (CO1, C2, 03 Marks)
  2. A steel rod 40mm in diameter is 2.5 m long. Find the maximum stress induced when pull of 80 kN is applied I) gradually ii)suddenly also find instantaneous elongation. Take E=200 Gpa Comment on result. (CO2, C4, 03 Marks)
  3. Compute normal and shear stress on failure plane if vertical and horizontal normal stress acting on block are 60MPa (tension) and 30 MPa (comp) and shear stress 20 MPa. (CO2, C4, 03 Marks)
