1. SECTION-A is COMPULSORY consisting of TEN questions carrying TWO marks

2. SECTION-B contains FIVE questions carrying FIVE marks each and students
have to attempt any FOUR questions.
3. SECTION-C contains THREE questions carrying TEN marks each and students
have to attempt any TWO questions.

1. Write briefly :
a) What is the significance of fabric structure analysis?
b) What is fabric cover factor?
c) What is the weave used in denim fabric?
d) Prepare a sponge weave.
e) Mention the end uses of double fabric.
f) Give the characteristic features of satin/ sateen weaves.
g) Prepare diamond on minimum repeat size.
h) Differentiate between welt and pique weaves.
i) What is the function at fringing mechanism in terry weaving?
j) Prepare a vertical hairline pattern.

2. Prepare a zig zag twill weave using 2/1, 1/1 twill with its weaving plans.
3. Prepare brighton honeycomb structure with the cross-sectional view.
4. What are the various methods used to prepare stripe and check patterns?
5. Compare huck a back and mockleno weaves.
6. Design a distorted thread pattern.

SECTION-C
7. What are terry fabrics? Give their classification. Prepare the 'graphical representation and
cross- sectional view of a three pick terry fabric.
8. What are characteristic features of backed fabrics? Prepare a weft backed warp wadded
fabric.
9. A stripe fabric is woven 42.5 inches wide on a 60s American reed with 50 ppi.
The selvedges are 1/4 inch wide on each side woven with 2/30s bleached yarn with
4 ends/dent. The length of the piece is 60 yards and the crimp of warp is 8%. The count
of the weft 20s and the warp pattern is as follows

26s white??????????.2 ends
30s brown??????????.3 ends
26s white??????????.3 ends
Calculate :
a) Total number of ends in the warp
b) Total length of each colored yarn
c) Total weight of each colored yarn
d) Total weight of yarn in the piece
