INSTRUCTIONS TO CANDIDATES :
1. Attempt THREE questions from UNIT-I and TWO questions from UNIT-II.
2. All question carry equal marks.

UNIT-I
1. Discuss the need and significance of conducting socio-economic surveys in the field of
housing. Also list out the methods of conducting surveys.
2. What are the factors that affect housing? Why have housing strategies for the urban poor
and homeless met with little success in our country?
3. Elaborate on the origin and growth of slums in urban centres. How can slums be
eradicated?
4. Write a note on housing typologies. Define affordability in housing.
5. Discuss the role of both private and public sector in housing.
UNIT-II
6. Discuss in detail the salient features of the National Housing & Habitat Policy 2007.
7. Give the importance of housing norms and standards. Is there consistency in housing
standards at National level? Comment with respect to laid down standards for LIG, MIG
and EWS categories.
8. Write a note on the institutional framework for housing finance in India.
