A 45 year old smoker and alcoholic presented with h/o chest pain, low grade fever and breathlessness of 2 weeks duration. There is h/o loss of appetite and loss of wt. Clinical and radiological features suggestive of fluid in the pleural space.

- Total cell count: 8000, predominant lymphocytes
- Protein: 4gm/dl
- LDH: 400IU/litres
- Glucose: 40mg/dl
