CASE SCENARIO
A 45 years male, coolie by occupation presented with history of
- Abdominal distension - 6 months
- Yellowish discoloration of eyes- 2 months
- Pedal edema-2months.

He has noticed gradually increasing distension of the abdomen which was not associated with abdominal pain. There was no history of fever, chest pain or palpitations. He noticed yellowish discoloration of eyes since two months. His urine was yellow colored, but there was no decrease in urine output.
He consumed 180 ml of alcohol daily for 15 years. He was a nonsmoker
Family history - Nothing significant.

ON EXAMINATION
GENERAL PHYSICAL EXAMINATION: Pallor+, Icterus+, Bilateral pitting pedal oedema upto midcalf level+
PER ABDOMEN:
INSPECTION:
Distended, dilated veins visible.

Umbilicus stretched horizontally and everted
Flanks were full.
PALPATION:
No tenderness
Direction of blood flow in the dilated veins away from the umbilicus
