1. A 52-year-old man presented with complaints of tightness and discomfort in middle part
of chest, particularly after brisk walking. This is relived within 10 minutes of rest. A
diagnosis of Angina pectoris was made by physician after appropriate investigations.
(a) Mention four different drug groups used in treatment of Angina with two examples
each.
(b) Write the mechanism of action and adverse effects of Nitrates.
(c) Outline the management of Acute pulmonary edema, with rationale for use of
each drug.
(d) Briefly describe Antiplatelet drugs.

2. A 29-year employee gradually stopped going out, withdrew socially. He felt guilty,
worthless and tired all time, lost interest in pleasure and sex and had disturbed sleep.
Physician diagnosed him a case of Major depression.
(a) Enumerate three drug groups with two examples each to treat major depression.
(b) Write the mechanism of action, uses and adverse effects of Fluoxetine.
(c) Briefly describe Atypical Antipsychotics
