Part A

You are the house officer in a surgical ward. A patient died in the ward
few days after the admission

List five (05) circumstances, under which you

inquest.

conducting a 'pathological autopsy'.

1.3 If this patient had a stab injury on the chest, outline the important
medico-legal duties you would have carried out related to the patient's

List five (05) features, on which the J/140 would suspect that this was a
suicidal stab injury

2.
A young unmarried female was found dead with gunshot injury. Jaffna
Magistrate ordered to do a postmortem examination on this body.
2.1.
Briefly describe how you would distinguish rifle firearms from smooth

bore weapons based on the injury pattern.
2.2.
At postmortem examination there is a circular penetrating injury on the
left occipital area measuring 10 mm in diameter, the cerebral laceration
extends from this injury to the right parietal area of the brain and a bullet
embedded in the right parietal area.
2.2.1. State the cause of death according to the WHO classification

report
