PART – A (14 Marks)

  1. Answer all the following questions briefly:

    1. Define Representative Fraction.
    2. What is the importance of dimensioning?
    3. Define frustum of a solid.
    4. What is the difference between first angle and third angle projections?

PART – B (56 Marks)

  1. Construct a vernier scale of R.F = 1:80 to show meters, decimeters and centimeters and long enough to measure up to 8 meters.

  2. A fixed point is 75 mm from a fixed straight line. Draw the locus of a point P moving in such a way that its distance from the fixed point is twice its distance from the fixed straight line.

  3. A line AB is 75 mm long. A is 50 mm in front of VP and 15 mm above HP. B is 15 mm in front of VP and is above HP. Draw the front and top views of AB and determine its inclinations with HP and VP.

  5. A regular pentagonal lamina of 30 mm side rests on one of its corners on HP. The lamina is inclined to HP such that the plan of it is a square. The side which is on HP makes an angle of 45° with VP. Draw its front and top views.

  6. A cone, base 75 mm diameter and axis 100 mm long, rests with its base on HP. A section plane perpendicular to VP and inclined at 45° to HP cuts the cone at a point 35 mm above the base. Draw the sectional top view and develop the lateral surface of the truncated cone.

  7. Draw the isometric view of a hexagonal prism of base side 30 mm and axis 60 mm long when it is resting on one of its ends on HP with two of its base sides parallel to VP.
