- a) Prove that f(z)-f(0) ?0 as z?0 along any radius vector but not as z ? 0 in any manner and also that f(z) is not analytic at z = 0.
- b) Using method of Least squares, find the curve y = a x + b x² that best fit following data:

- a) Find the Fourier transform of e-ax², where a > 0.

5. Attempt any one part of the following: 7×1=7
- a) In a certain factory turning out razor blades, there is a small chance of 0.002 for any blade to be defective. The blades are supplied in packets of 10. Use appropriate and suitable distribution to calculate the approximate number of packets containing no defective, one defective and two defective blades respectively in a consignment of 50000 packets.
- b) A sample of 100 dry battery cells tested to find the length of life produced the following results x = 10 hours, s = 3 hours. Assuming the data to be normally distributed, what percentage of battery cells are expected to have life
- i. more than 15 hours
- ii. between 10 and 14 hours.
