2. a) Explain the classification of surveying. [7M]
b) A tape of nominal length 30m was used to measure a line. The measured length was 245.86m. The standard length of the tape was 30.03m. Find the correct length of the line. [7M]

3. a) Explain about the temporary adjustments of a transit theodolite. [7M]
b) The following bearings were observed with a compass:

4. a) Explain about different methods of leveling. [7M]
b) The following consecutive readings were taken with a level and a 3m leveling staff on continuously sloping ground at a common interval of 20m. 0.685, 1.455, 2.325, 0.375, 1.030, 1.925, 2.845, 0.565, 1.375, 2.130. The Reduced Level (RL) of the first point was 80.750m. Calculate the Reduced Levels of the remaining points and also the gradient of the line. [7M]

5. a) Explain about the characteristics of contours. [7M]
b) The area of the plan of an excavation is 50 sq. cm. The depths at the corners of the rectangles, 10m x 10m, were measured and found to be as follows:
