According to BIE officials, the postal van which was carrying the answer scripts of these students met with an accident on Sunday night.

While the van driver died on the spot, officials of the board, who visited the accident spot, found the answer scripts lying scattered on the road. BIE officials in a press release on Monday said, almost 220 answer scripts in the bundle were intact and only 24 were got damaged. The answer scripts belonged to students of Welfare Residential Junior College at Utnoor, Adilabad.

According to G Balaramaiah, BIE secretary, the board has not decided whether evaluators will be able to check the damaged answer scripts. “If under any circumstances it is not possible to evaluate the scripts, further action will be taken including the conduct of re-examination for the students concerned. A detailed report is awaited from the police,” said Balaramaiah. The Intermediate examinations will conclude on March 22.
