The stalemate between the state government and the managements of professional colleges over the payment of fee reimbursement scheme arrears continued on Saturday. The government held negotiations with the managements on Saturday after the first round of talks ended in failure on Friday.
The government has invited them again on February 16 for talks.
The managements, which
had threatened to close the colleges from February 16, announced they will take a ‘final decision’ based on the outcome of the talks on February 16.
The government owes the colleges nearly Rs3,500 crore as arrears.
The secretary general of the Consortium of Engineering and Professional Colleges Management Associations of AP, Mr KVK Rao said, “The ministers sought time till February 16 to discuss the issue with the finance department.”
