Two candidates giving the Eamcet exam on Sunday were caught with cellphones inside the exam hall while appearing for the medical stream exam on Sunday. Both are repeaters who have cleared the exams before. Another candidate in Vikarabad was caught with a cellphone while appearing for the engineering stream exam. Eamcet officials have booked malpractice cases against the three.
The two students giving the medical exam were identified as Syed Sarika Bhanu in Kurnool and Ch. Balaraju in Hyderabad. Their exams have been cancelled. Both have been repeatedly appearing for the Eamcet medical exam since then. Barring these incidents, Eamcet-2011 went off smoothly across the state. While the attendance percentage stood at 96.75 for the engineering stream exam, it was 95.8 per cent for the medical stream exam. A total of 2,70,022 students appeared for the engineering and 65,772 appeared for the medical stream exam. There were, however, reports that around 50 students missed the exam due to the “one-minute late” norm this year. There were also complaints that around 200 medical students were issued hall tickets for the engineering exam. The officials, however, blamed the students for giving wrong details in the application forms.
