Andhra Pradesh EAMCET postponed to May 22.
HYDERABAD: The Eamcet examination, which was to be held on May 8, has been postponed to May 22 in view of the byelections to Kadapa Lok Sabha and Pulivendula assembly constituencies.
Eamcet officials said the decision was taken as students might face commutation problems if the examination is held on the same day as the byelections.
The convener of the examinations, M V Ramana Rao, met the chief electoral officer Bhanwar Lal on Thursday. Rao brought to the notice of the CEO that the election date coincided with the examination date and sought a clarification from the Election Commission. He urged the CEO to see if the election date could be changed. Bhanwar Lal, however, ruled out postponing the elections as the schedule was announced keeping in view elections in other states. Following this, JNTU authorities changed the Eamcet date.
Officials said that students need not worry as the Eamcet results would be announced within 25 days of the conduct of examination. “We have to wait for the Intermediate marks to announce Eamcet ranks and hence the schedule of admissions will not get affected,” said Ramana Rao.
