Guntur: In a decisive move, the state government has decided to go ahead with the appointment of school teachers as per the DSC-2008 notification. School education minister Dokka Manikya Varaprasad on Wednesday said a blueprint would be issued within three days. Speaking to reporters here, the minister said the government has examined the reports of legal advisors, including that of advocate-general on the issue and decided to go ahead with the recruitment of teachers.
“We have received legal opinions in which they observed that we could go ahead with filling up of vacancies in 70:30 ratio between common merit and D Ed candidates. We will take a final call on the issue shortly,” he explained. He hastened to add that a final decision would be taken after consulting chief minister K Rosaiah.
The issue of appointments of teachers through DSC-2008 has been embroiled in controversies after the candidates moved the courts. While the government notified nearly 52,000 vacancies before last general elections, trouble began when it was found that only around 21,000 vacancies need to be filled. After clearing the hurdles in school assistants, the differences between the D Ed and B Ed created problems in filling up the vacancies in the primary schools.
