ADILABAD: The Intermediate exams began on a peaceful note in Adilabad on Monday with police providing adequate security at exam centres.
Candidates from Inter first year took the second language test at 76 centres across the district.
Officials in the district visited centres to ensure smooth conduct of the exams.
Collector P. Venkateswarlu, who visited the Government Junior College for boys centre in Adilabad wanted officials to provide the candidates with drinking water.
Regional Inspection Officer G. Satyanarayana told The Hindu that 2,639 candidates absented themselves out of a total 33,023.
No candidate was booked for malpractice on day one of the examinations.
