Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Kakinada (JNTUK) is going to conduct Engineering Common Entrance Test (ECET-2012).
Announcing this at a press conference here on Sunday, Vice-Chancellor of the JNTUK G. Tulasi Ram Das said that for the first time the university was conducting a State-level examination. Stating that 95 per cent of the admissions were completed for the PG courses for the academic year 2011-12, Prof. Das said that the University Grants Commission’s funding for the MBA programme was in the pipeline and construction of academic blocks was in progress.
“Ours is the first university to place orders for ‘Aakash’ tablet PCs for our students. The Ministry of Human Resource Development is providing the tablets at a special price of Rs. 1,138 per piece to students pursuing technical education and we are going to get 3,250 tablets in a couple of months,” he said, adding that the university was presenting the tablets to the faculty free of cost. Referring to the faculty, Prof. Das said that the university would soon issue a notification to recruit 107 faculty members to its colleges in Kakinada and Vizianagaram.
He said that career advancement scheme was being implemented for the in-service faculty members and teacher training was being conducted for the faculty members of the university colleges. Prof. Das said that the Kakinada Engineering College was included in the Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme and it would get a funding of Rs.12 crore from the government.
