20,708 posts in various categories to be filled; move to achieve stipulated student-teacher ratio.Large-scale recruitment will be undertaken by the government soon to appoint as many as 20,708 teachers in various categories to achieve the student-teacher ratio in schools stipulated by the Centre.
Out of them, 9,569 posts will be teachers with school assistant grade in Telugu, Hindi and other subjects under Rajiv Madhyamik Siksha Abhiyan. The annual financial commitment from the ex-chequer towards these posts is put at Rs 241 crore. An Education Department official said this was the first time that school assistant posts were created and sanctioned on such a massive scale. The requisitions for these posts have been made by district educational officers.
Out of these posts, East Godavari would get a maximum of 960 and Hyderabad (Urban) the least, only four. Srikakulam would get 545; Vizianagaram 371; Visakhapatnam 419; West Godavari 709; Krishna 207; Guntur 422; Prakasam 89; Nellore 62; Chittoor 528; Kadapa 97; Anantapur 399; Kurnool 625; Mahabubnagar 506; Ranga Reddy 633; Medak 675; Nizamabad 413; Adilabad 258; Karimnagar 605; Warangal 341; Khammam 167; and Nalgonda 534. Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, at a meeting with senior officials here on Monday, also sanctioned 11,139 teachers posts in various grades and categories different media of instruction in the schools managed by the government and the Zilla Parishads. Out of these, 2,284 would be school assistant grade posts, 1,304 languages pandits grade II, 343 physical education teachers and the remaining 7,208 secondary grade teachers. The official said all these posts would be filled through district selection committees (DSE) by way of special recruitments. The necessary notification giving details about the dates of written test etc would be issued shortly. Besides, Mr. Reddy gave his go-head signal for recruitment of 552 “beat officers” and “assistant beat officers” in the Forest Department.
