HYDERABAD: Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Ghulam Nabi Azad, inaugurated Dr.V.R.K. Women’s Medical College and the main block of its teaching hospital at Aziznagar in Ranga Reddy district on Friday.
According to Azaz Rahman, vice-president of Dr.V.R.K. Educational Society the medical college which started with the first batch of 100 girl students is the first of its kind in the country after independence.
In 1914, the Lady Hardinge’s Medical college was started in Delhi.
Later Mr. Azad interacted with girl students from the medical and engineering colleges run by the society and also from PG life sciences, pharmacy and degree batches of Shadaan college.
He also went around the teaching hospital and spoke with the patients.
Health Minister D. Nagender, former Minister Shabbir Ali and Vizarat Rasool Khan, who is the chairman of the society, and others were present.
