ABOUT A DOZEN STUDENTS OFFERED SALARIES OVER `10 LAKH A YEAR

Campus placements are back with a bang after a gap of two years and top IT companies like Infosys, TCS, Wipro Technologies, Microsoft, Cognizant Technology Solutions and Accenture and multinational company Morgan Stanley have recruited thousands of engineering graduates from universities and private colleges across the state.

Over 90 per cent of students were placed from JNTU-Hyderabad, Osmania University College of Engineering and other prominent private colleges such as CBIT-Gandipet and Vasavi Engineering College with about a dozen students being offered salaries over `10 lakh per annum.

And it wasn’t just IT companies, core companies from electronics, mechanical, electrical and civil engineering sectors have also recruited a large number of students.

Interestingly, the Osmania University College of Engineering located in the heart of the OU campus, the hotbed of Telangana agitation, received 478 job offers.

According to OUCE placement officer, Mr V. Umamaheshwar, this was the highest number of jobs ever offered to their students which proved that the recent Telangana agitations on campus had not deterred top global companies from recruiting Osmania University students.

“This year, two of our students from the computer engineering stream were
offered `10.8 lakh by Morgan Stanley. Microsoft offered `8.5 lakh to six students. Maruti has selected nine of our students from the mechanical engineering stream,” the recruitment officer said.

In JNTU-Hyderabad, about 600 students were selected by 20 firms. The highest salary offered was `10.2 lakh.

In CBIT, Gandipet, the highest-ever 850 students were recruited with a top salary of `8.5 lakh offered by Microsoft.
