EAMCET SCHEDULE OUT TODAY
The state government on Wednesday decided to conduct the MCA semester exams of the Osmania University once more from January 20, 2011.
Students, who have appeared for the exams during the last three days, need not appear again for fresh exams. The exams were held for the last three days though over 90 per cent of the students boycotted them demanding statehood for Telangana.
Only six per cent students appeared for the exams on the first day, which came down to less than five per cent on the second day. On Wednesday, the attendance further slipped to less than three per cent.
Concerned at the poor attendance, the minister for higher and technical education, Mr Damodara Rajanarasimha, convened a meeting with the OU Vice Chancellor, Mr T. Tirupathi Rao, and senior officials at the Secretariat on Wednesday to discuss the issue.
In the meeting, the government decided to give another chance for the students who did not appear for the exams to write them again.
But it refused to cancel the exams held in the last three days.
Meanwhile the state government will announce the schedule for Eamcet, Icet and Edcet on Thursday.
Eamcet is likely to be held on May 8, 2011. The higher and technical education minister, Mr Damodar Rajanarasimha, will release the schedule at the Secretariat.
JNTU-Hyderabad will conduct the Eamcet for the 12th year in a row with the decision of the government to maintain ‘status quo’ over conducting the common entrance tests (CET).
JNTU-Hyderabad will hold Eamcet and Ecet, Andhra University will conduct Icet, OU will hold Edcet and PGECET.
