Fee, indecision on quota hit Eamcet counselling

Hyderabad : The indecisiveness of the state government regarding fixing the fees and management quota seats in professional colleges is having a negative impact on the Eamcet counselling for admissions into engineering and medical courses. Officials of the higher education department have so far failed to devise Eamcet counselling schedules due to lack of clarity on fees and management quota seats. They say that due to this Eamcet counselling is likely to be delayed by over a month. Officials say that the government will take a decision on the issue only after the by-elections in Telangana region which will conclude by July 30 as any decision on a fee hike might have an adverse impact on the ruling party?s prospects. The Admissions and Fee Regulatory Committee (AFRC), which fixes the fee structure for professional courses, has also been awaiting the government?s decision on increasing management quota seats for nearly two months. Unless the seat sharing ratio between the government and college managements is finalised, AFRC cannot arrive at a decision on fixing the fees for professional courses. It has been more than three months since the government initiated the process to finalise fees and management quota seats in professional colleges under pressure from the managements who are demanding a steep hike in fees and also in their quota of seats. Eamcet ranks are expected by July 16 but officials are not in a position to initiate the counselling process this month in the absence of a decision on fees and management quota seats. source : DC

Online examination for Internal Evaluation :
This University is looking for bringing continuous evaluation system of the students which is essential in technical education. This can be achieved through online quiz examinations. This year, on line examination is successfully implemented for the first time in all affiliated engineering colleges. According to this examination procedure, quiz examination will be conducted simultaneously in all the colleges affiliated to JNTU where papers will be generated by the computer from the question bank available online. This procedure helps to implement the continuous evaluation systems since the paper setting and evaluation is automated and also ensures uniform evaluation.
    Double Valuation System :
In order to make evaluation system perfect and to do justice to all the students, ?Double valuation? system is introduced with effect from November, 2005 for all affiliated engineering colleges. According to this procedure each answer book will be evaluated independently by two examiners. These examiners will award the marks on different award lists without marking on the answer books. These two award lists will be compared by the Chief Examiner of the subject. If the difference between these two valuations is within the prescribed limits, the higher marks will be awarded to the student. If the differences are more than the prescribed limit the Chief Examiner will finalize the marks in consultation with the two examiners. The above examination procedure, make the foolproof examination and justified evaluation.
