    24,500 reject Eamcet seats in phase I

    As many as 24,500 students who were allotted seats in the first phase of Eamcet engineering counselling did not take admissions thus taking the total number of vacant seats in the convenor quota to 69,000 in 692 engineering colleges in the state.

    While 1,49,410 students were allotted seats in the first phase, only 1,24,919 students reported at the respective colleges for admissions. The due date to report at the respective colleges ended on October 6.

    To make matters worse, 8,674 candidates have cancelled their admissions.

    Managements of several engineering colleges that have less than 100 admissions are now requesting the government to shift their students to other colleges as they cannot run with “lean strength” and suffer losses.

    As I year B.Tech./B.Pharm. recounting/revaluation results were declared on 4th Oct., 2010, the last date for examination registration fee payment for such candidates who have applied for I year recounting/revaluation has been extended up to 8-10-2010 5.00 PM without fine, with a fine of Rs 100/- up to 5.00 PM of 12-10-2010 and with a fine of Rs 1000/- up to 5.00 PM of 18-10-2010.
    Further the Principals are informed to arrange for the refund of the fine amount, if paid before 5.00 PM of 8-10-2010 to the respective students and take the registration fee Demand draft after deducting such amount.
