May 21: For the second year in a row, Hyderabad earned the dubious distinction of being at the bottom of the SSC pile. While the state average was 83.10 per cent, Hyderabad secured a pass percentage of only 72.76 in the SSC results that were declared on Saturday. District officials, however, blamed private schools, which constitute 90 per cent of the total schools in the district, for the poor show.
Ironically, the Hyderabad collector, Mr Natarajan Gulzar, had announced several incentives like holiday tours for officials and teachers during summer vacations to improve the results this year after last year
