  • TRS stir on March 10 to hit Inter exam.

    HYDERABAD: The Telangana JAC and TRS plan to lay siege to Hyderabad on March 10 is likely to hit students writing their crucial Intermediate examinations. The examinations are expected to begin on March 7, and English Part II exam for Inter second year students is scheduled for March 10.

    While calling for the `Chalo Hyderabad’ march, the Telangana JAC and TRS had claimed that they would decide on the date after checking the SSC and Inter exams schedule to ensure that the protest does not clash with any exams. However, this was not to be as the March 10 protest will affect Intermediate students in the Telangana region. “We are afraid the exam will have to be postponed for the Telangana region due to the expected trouble,” one official said.

    But any postponement of Inter examinations will affect students planning to appear for all-India examinations. With IIT-Joint Entrance Test (IIT-JEE) to be held on April 10 and All-India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE) to be held on May 1, students will be in a fix if the Inter exams are disrupted.

    The SSC examinations are scheduled to begin on March 24 and any postponement of the Inter exams will affect the SSC schedule.

    Meanwhile, representatives of Telangana Inter Vidya Joint Action Committee, who staged a protest at the BIE office on Saturday, stated that they would not boycott the examinations, but advised the government to cancel the Inter exams till the political situation stabilises in the state. “Owing to the two-day bandh call given by T-JAC last week, Intermediate practical examinations were disturbed in 17 centres. There will be disruptions for the theory examinations also. Hence, it is not advisable for the state government to conduct any examination during the next one month,” stated P Madhusudan Reddy, president of Government Junior Lecturers’ Association and Telangana Inter Vidya JAC.

    G Balaramaiah, secretary, Board of Intermediate Examinations, said the exams would be held as scheduled. “We will discuss the issue with the concerned ministers first before taking a call on postponement,” he said.
