3. Classify and explain the micro-organisms on the basis of mode of nutrition.
4. Explain biochemical reactions taking place in nitrogen cycle along with well labelled
diagram.
5. What is compost technology? Discuss the detailed process of microbial composting.
6. What do you mean by biodegradation? Explain the role of different microbes in
biodegradation of natural organic compounds.

7. Explain the major contributions of Louis Pasteur in development of microbiology.
8. What are bacteriophages? Explain different stages of lytic cycle for its multiplication.
How does it differ from the lysogenic cycle?
9. What do you mean by microbial food spoilage? Describe different types of food spoilage,
their causative agents and measures to prevent the spoilage of food.
