1. a) What do you understand by the term 'Herbal Cosmetics'? Classify herbal cosmetics.

cosmetics. Also enlist 5 industries involved in manufacturing of herbal cosmetics
along with any one of their product. (6)
2. a) Write a note on the preservatives used during herbal cosmetic manufacturing. Also
highlight role of essential oil as preservatives in cosmetics. (8)
b) What are the various factors involved in and govern the designing of a herbal
cosmetic formulation. (7)
3. a) Elaborate on the preparation and standardization of nail polishes. (7)
b) What are dentifrices? How do you prepare and standardize toothpastes? (8)
4. a) Write a note on the pre-formulation studies of herbal cosmetics. (7)
b) Discuss the physiology and chemistry of skin with a suitable diagram. (8)
5. Write a note on following :
a) Humectants used in herbal cosmetics (4)
b) Herbal Lipsticks (5)
c) Toxicity studies according to D & C Act. (6)
6. Elaborate on various herbs used in hair growth and hair care cosmetic formulations. (15)
