1. Define the scope of the field of production planning and control. What are the various functions which this field has to cover and perform? Discuss.
2. What is the procedure for conducting market survey before a product development and how this survey helps in designing and developing a product? Discuss.
3. What is the significance of standardization, simplification and specialization in product development and design? Discuss with suitable examples.
4. What is inventory control? Derive the expression for economic order quantity (EOQ) for quantity discount.

5. a) What are the different types of inventory costs? Bring out their role and importance in inventory models.
   b) Supply of a special component has the following price schedule.
   0-99 items: Rs. 1000/- per unit
   100 items and above: Rs. 950/- per unit
   The inventory holding costs are estimated at 25% of the value of inventory. The procurement cost works out to be Rs. 2000/- per order. If the annual requirement of this component is 300, compute the economic order quantity for the procurement of these items.
