PART A
1. A middle aged alcoholic man who was living alone found dead at his house. He was
lying on the ground facing up with injury to back of the head. You are asked to
conduct postmortem examination on this case.

PART B
3. A 26 year old female presented to the Office of Judicial Medical Officer (JMO) with a
history of assault by an acquaintance 2 days ago. She complained of abdominal pain
and mild vaginal bleeding following a blow to her lower abdomen. As a part of the
investigation, the assistant JMO explained the need to perform a vaginal and digital
rectal examination. She consented but was obviously unhappy about it. She asked
him if it could be done by a female doctor. The only female doctor in the unit was on
leave at that ti me

Because of the doctor's busy schedule he decided to go ahead with the examination
despite the unavailability of a female chaperone. On the following day, the director
of the hospital received a complaint from the patient's boyfriend accusing the
assistant JMO of inappropriately touching the patient.

The SLMC also decided to initiate an inquiry into this incident on the grounds of
alleged serious professional misconduct following a complaint received by them
related to an improper and negligent examination.

The Police have recovered a fresh dead body of a young, male person in an
abandoned house. The deceased appears to be emaciated and having poor personal
hygiene. There was a firmly held 2 mL syringe in his right hand. A small empty
bottle and partially burnt cigarette buds were found at the scene. This death was
reported to the judicial medical officer by the Police.
