Srikakulam: Health minister D L Ravindra Reddy said another 500 medical seats would come up in all the four Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) colleges in the state from 2012-13 academic year.
Out of which, hundred seats would be allotted to RIMS college in Srikakulam, he said. The other three RIMS colleges are located at Adilabad, Ongole and Kadapa. He inaugurating the outpatient block here in the RIMs on Wednesday., the minister said there was a shortage of teaching faculty in all the RIMS colleges.
The government would take up the recruitment soon and it would increase the retirement age of the professors to 70 years, he assured. He said the government would set up a platelet separator centre at RIMS hospitals soon.
