Biometric fingerprinting to check malpractices in EAMCET.

HYDERABAD: To prevent malpractices in the medical entrance examination during the Eamcet-2011, Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU) will introduce biometric fingerprinting of candidates at the exam centres.

The biometric reading device will take the thumb impressions and photographs of candidates before they enter the examination hall. The students will also be frisked thoroughly by police to prevent them from stealing mobile phones or other electronic gadgets into the exam venues.

In problematic centres in places like Tirupati, Kadapa and Kurnool cell phone signal jammers will be installed to prevent the use of bluetooth devices.

“These precautions are being taken to prevent malpractices. Last year some Eamcet candidates had tried to take the help of outsiders to crack the question paper. They were carrying bluetooth enabled cellphones,” said D N Reddy, chairman, Eamcet committee and vice chancellor, JNTU.
