KAKINADA: Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University-Kakinada (JNTUK) will soon set up its campus in London. The proposal came up for discussion when JNTUK vice-chancellor Allam Appa Rao visited London at the invitation of Ashley School of Management. London Mayor Colin Ellar urged Rao to set up JNTUK campus in the United Kingdom for the benefit of students of Indian origin. The Mayor lauded the advanced courses and research programmes of JNTUK.
Speaking to Express on his return from London, the vice-chancellor said Indian universities should open their branches in foreign countries in the era of globalisation.
As part of its efforts to internationalise higher education, JNTUK is signing memoranda of understanding with reputed foreign universities in the world.
It is also introducing specialised courses to cater to the needs of industry. JNTUK’s endeavour is to see that every student gets a placement order along with his degree.
The university is striving to achieve academic excellence by becoming a breeding ground for innovative ideas, Rao said.
