1. A 50-year-old businessman returned from India presented to the Teaching Hospital Jaffna
having fever with chills and rigors, observed in alternative days, for more than a week.
On clinical examination he waspale and a moderate splenomegaly was noted.

2. A 40 year old laborer admitted to the Teaching Hospital Jaffna for having blood and
mucous diarrhoea for more than two days. History revealed that he frequently had
snacks at roadside stalls and having "toddy".

4. A 35-year-old farmer was admitted to the Teaching Hospital, Jaffna 3 hours after an
unidentified snake bite. On admission, he had pain and bleeding at bite site over the
right ankle. He also complained of double vision and drooping of his eyelids. Few hours
later, he complained of difficulty in speech and unable to walk. Medical officer has
examined him and ordered some bloodinvestigations and started on treatment.
4.1 What investigation would you do immediately in the ward that will help you to
determine the likely offending snake
