Essays: (2x20=40)

1. Define pulmonary rehabilitation and mention its indications. Explain the components
of pulmonary rehabilitation. List the importance of activity modifications in pulmonary
rehabilitation.
2. A 28 years old male met with road traffic accident suffered with head injury. He is

admitted in Intensive care unit, connected with mechanical ventilator with CMV mode.
Explain the role of physiotherapy in assessing and managing this patient. Mention the
importance of monitoring during physiotherapy care. What are the precautions to be
taken while managing this patient.


Short essays: (6x10=60)

3. Mention the indications for ABG analysis and the normal values for various
parameters. Explain the importance of ABG finding in designing the physiotherapy
programme.
4. Exercise prescription - for a 48 old male with diabetes mellitus, with overweight.

5. Define intermittent claudication. Explain the pathophysiology and explain any two
exercises to reduce intermittent claudication .
6. Oxygen therapy - indications, complications and methods of administration

7. Define cough. Explain the stages of cough and discuss any two type of assisted
cough.
8. What is isothermic saturation boundary (ISB). Explain the various factors responsible
for maintaining ISB. Mention the techniques used by physiotherapists to maintain ISB
at ideal level.
