BUS SHELTER
Bus stops are essential part of any successful urban mass-transit system. From the perspective of
the Local bodies that are responsible for its management, a good stop shelter is one that has low
maintenance requirements and is vandal-resistant. From the rider?s point of view, an ideal shelter
is one that allows visibility and easy access to the bus, is comfortable and convenient, provides
clear information, and is safe. Bus shelters and on-street signage are a vital source of passenger
education/communication and greatly improve the passengers? experience on public transit.
Designing accessible and comfortable environments requires creativity and attention to detail.
Considerations for the persons with a disability must be viewed in a holistic setting taking into
consideration user safety, comfort and accessibility. Local body of prominent city in Punjab
proposes to construct Bus Shelter near main gate of leading university of that city (as shown
below). Shelter design should be attractive with space for advertisement for revenue generation.
You are required to design this Bus Shelter with considerations for the persons with a disability
taking into consideration user safety, comfort and accessibility. Bus stop shall not hinder the
movement of traffic.
REQUIREMENT
1. Seating area for 15 people and Standing for 10 people.
2. Space for advertisement at roof and lower level.
3. Space for making Queue.
4. Built in Furniture design.
5. Space for halting bus without hindrance to the moving traffic.
