1. (a) Write brief descriptions of various equipments used in chain surveying.
(b) Explain the process of chaining between two stations.
2. Draw a neat sketch of a Prismatic compass and label its various parts.
3. In a closed traverse the following bearings were observed with compass :

AB 84?-00' 264?-00'
BC 92?-00' 272?-00'
CD 166?-00' 343?-00'
DE 177?-00' 0?-00'
EA 189?-00' 9?-00'
Where do you suspect local attractions? Find the correct bearing.
4. Explain two point problem.
5. Draw and label a neat sketch of dumpty level.
6. The following consecutive readings were taken with a 4m leveling staff on a
continuously sloping ground at a common interval of 30m between two stations A and B:
1.545(on A), 2.330, 3.105, 3.815, 0.580, 1.375, 2.055, 2.810, 3.455 (on B).
The R.L. of A was 110.450. Calculate the R.L.s of various points and find the gradient of
line AB. Apply usual checks.
